Dodge Caravan Transmission
The transmission is a drivetrain component of rear-wheel drive vehicles that
features internal gears which enable the vehicle to run at different speeds while
the engine is turning in the same rpm. There are two types of transmissions being
used in modern cars: manual and automatic transmissions. Manual transmission requires
the driver to shift gears whenever they need to. Automatic transmission, on the
other hand, upshifts and downshifts without driver input needed.
The Dodge Caravan uses an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.
This type of transmission gives you a smooth ride and the automatic power shifting
whenever it is needed. However, the four-speed automatic transmission is very
complicated and fragile that a single careless mistake can cause it to break down.
In fact, the transmission is the part that is always in problem with the Dodge
Caravan. Most transmission failures are caused by wrong transmission fluids used.
Since the automatic transmission is very fragile, using the wrong type of transmission
fluid can cause it to malfunction.

Other causes include careless and speedy driving, which lessens the life of the
transmission and makes it prone to damages. Transmission problems may, however,
be easily managed today. With a lot of performance and replacement parts available
for the Dodge Caravan, you can easily replace the malfunctioning transmission.
Care must be taken, however, when buying a new car as you do not want its transmission
to be replaced at once. Special care must also be taken when buying used Dodge
Caravans as it may already have a faulty transmission.
