Dodge Caravan Recall
The Dodge Caravan is a vehicle often known as the King of Minivans in the car world. But like other
vehicles, the Dodge has also manufacture flaws and defects despite its reliability.
And recalls were the only solution and corrective action that can be done by their
manufacturers to avoid complicated problems like accidents and injuries. In the
case of the Dodge Caravan, several recalls have been made due to problems like
fuel system, equipment, locks and latches. Since the 20th century, many recalls
were made for Dodge Caravans with defects like in the 1990 model year wherein
there were 53 reported cases about defective brakes, 42 cases in electrical system,
32 cases in engine and engine cooling system, 24 cases in equipments and 34 cases
in fuel, exhaust and emissions control.

There were also 14 reported cases involving problems in heater, air conditioner
and ventilation. There were 53 reported cases involving defective interior systems,
16 in miscellaneous components, 186 cases in power train, 18 in steering, 144
in structure, 27 cases in suspension, wheels and tires while there were 16 cases
of visual systems problems. Several recalls were made throughout the 20th century,
in 1994 recalls involved problems in hatchback locks and latches which can cause
the occupants to be ejected resulting in significantly increased risk of injury
or even death. Recalls were also made due to wheels with misformed lug nuts seats,
which caused reduced nut to wheel contact area and limits the wheel self-centering
capability. This problem can result to loss of wheel lug nut torque retention
and later caused wheel separation and accident.
There were also problems involving airbags with intermittent short circuit after
vehicle startup and lead to inadvertent air bag deployment. There were also vehicles
with problems in interior systems, lifgate, saet tracks, anchors and steering
wheel that were recalled. In 2003, recalls were made to some Dodge Caravan due
to defects in gasoline and fuel system wherein it can cause possible fire in the
presence of an ignition source due to leaks. The manufacturer replaced the defective
parts for free. Another recall for this year was made due to problems in equipment
that can cause accident. A lot of recalls have been made to Dodge Caravan, but
it is still an undoubtedly reliable vehicle to consumers.
